On his ‘living in prosperity’ programme on UBC Pastor Sematimba has been propagating the heresy that Christians should tithe if they are to get prosperity and blessings from God. In fact he threatens that God will send curses upon Christians who do not tithe. He bases his argument on Deut: 28 and Mal. 3
The prosperity pastors in Uganda are threatening Christians that unless they bring their tithes to them to consume, they will be cursed by God. One pastor recently said that God can curse an entire church because of failure on part of one church member to tithe. You Liars and extortionists, if tithing is so important as you emphasize, how comes Jesus never tithed? How come the disciples never tithed? You say that the tithe should be given to the pastor to consume, is a pastor a Levite?
Can you give us a verse in the bible that says that the tithe should be given to the pastor to consume. You blame the Sevethday Adventists for emphasizing the Sabbath, how different are you? One of these days , you will tell us to circumcise our bodies. Tithing is nonsensical in this new testament period of grace.
WE ARE SUPPOSED TO GIVE AND NOT TO TITHE(Luke 6:38).Tithing is part of the mosaic law , we are no longer governed by the mosaic law and therefore whoever lives under the mosaic law in this new testament of grace is under a curse.
DO NOT BELIEVE THE TITHING LIE: UNDER THE NEW COVENANT CHRISTIANS ARE SUPPOSED TO GIVE AND NOT TITHE. PRECISELY THE TITHING LAW IS OBSOLETE AND DEFUNCT.. AMEN

Tithing. if you read the bible properly you will discover that tithe has several laws and rules.Only one is emphasized....the malachi common verse.
In brief people were supposed to collect the tithe and eat it from the place of worship to honor the Lord.
After the third year the tithe was to be reserved for the priests. The priests were supposed to use the tithe for the orphans, strangers widows and themselves; at this point the famous Malachi verse of the tithe is applied: food in the temple for those who would eat for the tithers to receive blessings.
If you pay tithe for the pastors' lux life, posh houses and incredible cars, where are your blessings. tithers watch out!!!
Lastly the tithe has blessings which are for earthly purposed as opposed to heavenly ones. It is limited, centered to "priests" and limits one' freedom to bless God in innumerable ways the New Testamnt provides.
Since I stopped giving it, I am more financially blessed and accountable to God in more ways of giving. Severe yourself from the mosaic yoke and start giving but be faithful stewards!
Greetings. I hear what your saying and have often thought about the tithing issue. Yes some people abuse this law to their own ends. I personally have wittnessed a pastor calling for a particular amount(s), based on a scripture e.g 144 thousand of revelation, and 7 because 7 is a spritual number. This is not right! And I have also wittnessed pastors saying that you wont get the healing your after if you do not tithe that amount! Huh total anti christ! And there is nothing wrong with the writer of this blog or anyone else discerning that it is wrong. Many will have ears but dont hear and eyes but dont see. I urge us to seek him with our whole heart because Our Messiah Jesus stated that "many will come and say Lord, Lord did we not heal in your name and cast out demons?" "I tell you in that day I will say away from me you evildoers I know you not. So my argument is that just because certain pastors can heal and cast out and perform miracles does not mean they are righteous or know God. Many are being led astray by people twisting the scriptures and those pretenders mamnage to capture the peoples heart because they semm to be under the annointing of God so everything they say must be write. God is GREAT, - I once overheard two student pastors planning to set up a church in order to make their fortune through preaching the tithing- prosperity message. That was here in London and one was my brother in law! Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. I would rather say giving is the true christian practise. I once asked my pastor at the time if i could give my tithe to help some poor orphans in Africa through a certain charity - He said no that it had to be given to his church. That in my opinion is not right. For in Isaiah God has said what kind of worship he requires. (I GIVE to help Gods children/people in need. I also notice that no one bothers to tell the congregations how much money was taken last week and what we will spend it on. It would be nice to know that your money helped the orphans, widows, poor etc. Someone said we should not judge but in my opinion discerning that something is wrong and in fact evil is not judging. Also the bible states that we should test every spirit.PEACE
